Canjeevaram Natarajan Annadurai (15 September 1909 3 February 1969), popularly called Anna (which means elder brother in Tamil), was a former Chief Minister of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He was the first member of a Dravidian party to hold that post and was also the first non-Congress leader to form a majority government in independent India. He hold the post of chief ministership post for a brief period until his death due to throat cancer. He is a great orator in both in Tamil and English.
He came from the Justice party ,which was against independence and favored English rule. As such he had no rule in the freedom movement. He is not so ethical in his principles. when a law was passed against people advocating seperation, he immedialtely throw away his prime motto of Dravida Nadu.He wrote cheap vulgar books against hindu Gods and literatures like Kamba Ramayanam to attain some popularity. Founder of dmk, late cm of tn and who started anti north/hindi struggle in south but very popular in tn and in his funeral 3 lakhs people attended.

The person Annadurai, I know was an honest, principled politician and social reformer from Tamil Nadu, who became the torch bearer of DMK and the C.M. of T. N. We cannot find similar men in any political party now including the DMK he nourished.

Anna as he was populary called was a former chief Minister of Tamil Nadu ( 1909-1969). He was born in Kanjipuram. He was a first member of the Dravidian party to hold the C.M. post. ( 1967-1969) He not only a great orater but also a great play writer. His plays were in later course made into to Films. He was an associate of E.V. Ramaswamy and his D.K. Party . Due to his difference, he parted ways and started his own party, DMK.. It was beleived that he use to start his speech on any given alphabhet and end his speech on the same alphabhet where he began his speech. He was a great personality indeed. Moreover, His funeral was attended by lacs of people adn that was a guinness record in those days.
