Online!
No additional charges, privacy, no buttering them for the ticket, quick and fast service.
Agents .... only when the server's are down.

In case of train ticket it is always direct online or across the counter booking unless I happen to book a Tatkal during peak seasons. . If it is Tatkal in train then only way to get it is through travel agents as for some unknown reason it is only they who manage to access the booking web site for the first 30 min. of its opening and corner all the available tickets As for flight both domestic and international, I check the travel agents as well as the airlines web sites to check the best available rates. Then book online, either from the airlines or travel agent who ever is offering the cheapest fare.
