Yes, for their disappearance although their utility and durability was more than the modern inventions which are mere use and throw items. Why it is said "Old is Gold" because of that. But it is still a relative expression because today's new is tomorrow's old. Similarly, what we call old today was one time new. But the point is its usage, its life, its cost. The old that still works like a new is really a gold because it is giving service even after its own specified life. Ofcourse it goes without saying that regular maintenance, love for the item and the item's preservable properties contirubute to its existence. In past, although technology whatever was there, there was a sincerety, genuineness of materials and policy of giving full value to the customer was there. While today, there is so much brand competition that seller doesn't want customer to use items for a longer period. nothing to feel sorry, who knows that the current technology will last for long.

Parivartan sansar ka niyam. Nothing is complete in itself.
There is always an opportunity for new inventions.
