Yesterday in spite of our win over sa we failed to reach s/f where was the mistake in strategy or otherwise committed by dhoni?

The main reason was that we failed to score a huge total which would have enabled us to restrict SA to a total that would have boosted out net run rate but we only managed 152 which was just a par score. Once we had lost 3 quick wickets of our top order we had to consolidate to prevent anymore wickets & had to compromise on run scoring. We somehow won by a single run which wasnt enough to improve our run rate!!
