I don't have some better examples to agree with your statement wholeheartedly. And if there are few, also see the fate of their movies too.I remember Arjun Rampal producing a movie called "I see you" two years back and if I'm not wrong, many haven't heard about this crap yet :D Producing movies is not an easy task as said by Tushar in his answer. If it would have been so, the Amitabh Bacchan company ABCL have been the highest grosser in Hindi film industry.Even Yash Raj banners had a drastic year full of tragic flops in 2007 and 2008. Some established stars like SRK, Amir, Salman, Ajay Devgan and others have their own home production units but their part is very limited in this department, mostly related with distribution rights and marketing. Amir Khan is an exception. Actually we do not have such a great history of actors turning producers in Hindi movies.Very few names including Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand comes into mind after the earliest trend setter Devika Rani..... ...more

No. It's not that easy if you do not have the RIGHT finance AND THE storyline as well to sell the movie

Producers don't actually invest, for investing others are there. A producer facilitates their coming together. In a way big stars have easy access to many such actors and technicians. This is financiers' way of getting the film completed smoothly.
