The petition seeking details of Sonia Gandhis tax returns was filed under the Right to Information Act by V Gopalakrishnan, a Chennai-based activist, who has similarly filed petitions seeking the income tax returns details of P Chidambaram, DMK leaders M Karunanidhi, MK Stalin, Dayanidhi Maran and A Raja, who is now in jail in the 2G scam case.
In every case, Gopalakrishnan sought the information in the public interest, but was rebuffed.
How confidential is the information that we give the income tax department? Do we, as citizens of India, have a right to pry into the tax files of Sonia
