HM Chidambaram wrote to PM about the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) which Nandan Nilekani is heading-----news. What is the controversy about this?
Obviously, Mr.Chidambaram dos not like Mr.Nandan Nilekani's office collecting the bio-metric data which the Registrar of India, under the Home Ministry is also now doing. (an instance of power tussle, to say in a nut shell..!!! )

The home ministry, which is collecting biometric details of people for creating the National Population Register, had cited security reasons to object to UIDAIs enrollment. It disagreed with the plan panels suggestion to change the rules to allow UIDAI a bigger enrollment.
Singh had wanted home minister P Chidambaram and Planning Commission deputy chairperson Montek Singh Ahluwalia to resolve their differences. He stepped in this week when their discussions failed.
