Since Hindi is not equally convenient for all Indians, it would be unwise to impose it on everyone.

Dear Nehaji, Since Hindi is our "Matru Bhasha" I suppose one should know our basic national language. Like wen we go to any country say for example if you go to France, we come across people speaking French, U go to US, you will find ppl speaking English and so on. So I feel one should make our Hindi language compulsory. Regards Cyrus

Hindi should not be made compulsary because it is seen that making hindi compulsary in government offices, serves as an employment guarantee scheme for the hindi speaking people. There are hindi officers, hindi translators etc but there is no work for them, simply warming the seats in the name of national language. Also lots of stationery is wasted in printing hindi material which no one prefers to read.

Hindi need not be compulsory but only Hidiwalas should learn to take pride in Hindi. Rest of India will follow. Most of them are followers of that school of thought which believes those who do not speak English are not educated... One of our top leader was said to be ashamed of being born in a Hindu family what was Hindi for him? Another one seeing a Hindi signboard at a reception commented good I like more and more Hindi in use. It was after PV Narasimha Raos Chaste Hindi lectures and interviews followed by Vajpayy ji, Hindi attained its present height. It is ridiculous for our leaders going to Iran, Iraq, Japan, Russia, China etc and lecturing in English. UNO had Hindi in its list only after NDA came to power.
Some respondents of your Qsn need to know that even in 1985 highest no of women candidate passed MA in Hindi was from Kerala. Let them see national TV channels to see how many eminent citizens and leaders from South ,north east (Maharastra congress leader feels shy to speak ...more
