Bharat ratna was given to indira and nehru too.. indira did not relinquished it for her father nehru! Isn't it? anyone asked this question? Well, why indira was given Bharat ratna for giving emergency to this nation is different question.. let's not get into politics.. dhyanchand should be given same honor too.. if it's not then blame the politicians who didn't do it.. why blame sachin?

Bharat Ratna is awarded by the Govt to an individual for his outstanding contribution in any field through which the country has earned laurels. At the most the individual to him it is awarded can relinquish it, but he cannot transfer it to another person because that is the decision that is taken by the Govt.
Lets not mix up issues here. Recently the decks were cleared by the govt making an ammendment by virtue of which a sportsman can be granted the Bharat Ratna. Sachin Tendulkar is the first Indian sportsman to have been awarded the Bharat Ratna not just for his records or accomplishments on the cricket ground but also his conduct in his more than two decade career as he represented the country in a dignified manner. And I for one have no grudge that he has been awarded the highest civilian honour of the country as he truly deserves it.

I do not understand why people are resenting Sachin so much and making it bitter for BR being given to him.
He richly deserves it for making us feel proud to be Indian and giving us so many happy moments. How many netas and actors have done that? How many Indians have received tributes even from foreign dignitaries including the Secretary General of UNO?
If Dhyanchand has been ignored by the netas, is it Sachin's fault that he has to atone for it?
