Pakistans defense spending rose by 200% during the Bhutto era. The United States once again became a major source for military hardware following the lifting of the arms embargo in 1975.
Pakistan received over a billion dollars in military aid from United States between 1954 and 1965. This aid greatly enhanced Pakistans defense capability as new equipment and weapons were brought into the armed forces, new military bases were created and existing ones were expanded and upgraded and two new Corps commands were formed. Shahid M Amin, who has previously served in the Pakistani foreign service, writes in his book Pakistan's foreign policy: A reappraisal that "It is also a fact, that these pacts did undoubtedly secure very substantial US military and economic assistance for Pakistan in its nascent years and significantly strengthened it in facing India, as seen in the 1965 war.

OF COURSE !
Up until the late 80s / early 90s, US & CIA was sponsor of Taliban & Al Qaida (then known @ Afghan Mujahideen). How do u think a bunch of dudes herdin sheep in Afghanistan mountains got heat seekin' Stinger missiles? U can't manufacture dem in some Rawalpindi warehouse. TOday, it's a household item in Afghanistan.
And Pakistan has F-16 in it's arsenal, who makes them? General Dynamics Corporation, US. They also have AMRAAM missiles, which is made by US. The AMRAAM makes Pakistan's Air to Air long/medium range superior to what we got, which is the AA-12. Pakistani Army is also supported logistically by the US.
Now, US is trying to play off INdia against Pak. They sell to both sides and laugh as we moronically kill each other. The People's Daily accused India of pursuing the "antagonize the near & befriend the far" policy and they're largely rite.....we should use Pak's succumbing to the US as propaganda to their people actively. We should put HUGE murals of vict ...more

Yes..even if it is used for economic development of pak, that aid ends up working against india..as it gives financial freedom to pak, as expenditure on its internal and much more emergent affairs are being met with aid, to actually enhance his position against india..so indirectly US is working against India by empowering and facilitating its enemy through indirect means..

I don't THINK. I KNOW now that former President Pervez Musharraf has categorically stated that US Aid in dollars were diverted against India.
