Because amongst her many accomplishments she was a distinguished poet and the beautiful words of her poetry could be sung - a Nightingale's song is the most beautiful - hence she was called the Nightingale of India.

Her poetry is lyrical and musical filled with rich imagery. It deals with love and death, separation and longing, and the mystery of life, all important themes for poetry. In the end the poetry tends to become monotonous and repetitive. For this reason she is called the nightingale of India.

Sarojini Naidu was a great freedom fighter who took part in many freedom struggle and she is also a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. She was well known for her beautiful poetry, good lyric and her poem is always full of music and after reading the poem it soothes to ear as Nightingale's songs soothes to one's ear when singing. Her poem have always indianness in them like Bangle Sellers in Bangle Sellers she describes about the various stages of women through bangles. here also there is music in it as through bangles we use to har the sound of music and hence she is appropriately called as Nightingale of india . She was one of the great Romantic poet india have ever seen her poems always have the lyric which one person listen or read , it gives you immense satisfaction. The title Nightingale of India really fits her.

Naidu's poetry is lyrical and musical, using many types of meter and rhyme and filled with rich imagery. It deals with love and death, separation and longing, and the mystery of life, all important themes for poetry. There is much rhetorical gesturing, much longing for an ideal past or an ideal love. In the end the poetry tends to become monotonous and repetitive. For this reason she is called the nightingale of india. she received serious recognition and much acclaim and was spoken of as the "nightingale of India" long after she had ceased to sing
