Chidambaram. But still not clear why he is eyeing on gold alone. When god price in the international market was going down and rupee is week, the best option is to increase the gold reserve which on one hand strengthen the rupee and on the other hand when god price recovers, the asset value will be appreciated.
If the gold import is restricted, it only helps smugglers to make money.
On the other hand if import of bulk material like coal, ore, etc. which are available locally as well and can not be smuggled easily would help to control CAD.
