We cast away the watch that does not tell us the correct time. The mirror, which does not show us our real image; we never like to look at it. We all show that we like truth but we ourselves are not truthful. Why do we show ourselves to be kind, though we are not? Why do we show love, though we do not love? Why do we show ourselves to be truthful though we are not? We go out of the way to smile at others, though we might be harboring grudge against the person. Why do we make this show of pretense? It is because deep down inside we are evil. It is the society, which is compelling us to live in a civilized manner, though we are not civilized. All the time we are making conscious efforts to show ourselves to be what we are not. We are all the time trying to master our opposing tendencies and the art of pretense.
