When a square section or any other section rotates we will see not a square but a circle. As such it is quite natural we accept the round shape as symbol for rotation and rotating objects.

It is easier to maneuver things when they are round in shape specially while its a rotating part!!

Stones in a river become round because they are constantly rolled over by the force of the water current
