As per scripture, life of Idol that are made of clay(Mrunaya) is 10days, life span of Idol that are made with wood is 15yrs........ metal is 100yrs and stone is for ever ......... we can't keep the Idol that are made of clay for more than 10days ...... that is the reason we need to bring out the life from the Idol and throw those in the water ....... that is known as VISARJANA ..... that is the tradation and we need to follow ......
