If you take me back to preindependence India, i would have requested all the netas to give equal rights to all the people of India and would have requested not to divide the population on the lines of minority/majority. When Muslims wanted spearate country i would have firmly told Jinna to take all the muslims to pak

Truth is bitter, people can't digest it, thats the reason every second writer and leader gives credit of independence to gandhi and of partition to nehru and jinnah. If there would have been no partition then there would have blood baths daily and Hindus would have no place to hide.

I can't claim to write a book, but I know this much that partition was the result of Muslim League demanding a separate homeland for Muslims. Under Jinnah they felt that in independent India, they would be insecure as they would be in minority. Jinnah, who first was not in favour of partition, later agreed to it largely because was convinced by the results of Indian National Congress party's elections at Lahore where all the posts in the party went in favour of Hindus and not a single Muslim won any seat in the INC party. He was immediately set upon by hardliners like Suharwardi brothers of Bengal to demand for a separate nation.
Interestingly, the Idea of Pakistan was first floated by none other than Poet Allama Iqbal who had earlier written Saare jahaan se achcha, Hind-O-stan hamaara...
