Greenland is called the green continent. Greenland is a self-governing Danish province located between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. Though physiographical and ethnically an Arctic island nation associated with the continent of North America, politically and historically Greenland is closely tied to Europe, specifically Iceland, Norway, and Denmark. Greenland is the world's largest island and largest colony by area (Australia and Antarctica are considered continents rather than islands).
