I never saw the south Indian film. But is seen some of hindi film like Ek duje keliye, Sadma, Chahi 420 etc. for sadma I impressed. I like his act very much. But he never acts much film in hindi. Hindi is such a language which is acceptable all over india. Whereas his base is south Indian industries. But Amitabhs speaking style and act is totally different than Kamal Hasan. Because of his height, wheight and different style act and dialog Amitabh is famous. Which is not at Kamal Hasan. So Kamal hasan is not much popular than Amitabh Bachhan.

Because kamal hasan is a south indian film actor, his fan base, his popularity is limited to south india, tamil nadu, to be precise, also a bit with overseas audience as well. whereas amitabh bachchan is a hindi film actor, his reach is across all over the country and widely abroad as hindi film has a wide reach, both nationally and internationally compared to tamil films.
