Why it is that the mother - in - laws do not treat their daughter in laws as their daughter and the daughter in laws do not treat their mother in laws as their mother?

It is the assumption and expectation that a MIL should treat her DIL like she treats her own daughter, and DIL should treat her MIL as her own mother, that leads to frictions. They are different entities. The relationship between Mother and Daughter is an Adult-Child relationship. Whereas The relationship between MIL and DIL is a Adult-Adult relationship. It is myth that a mother will not scold or criticize her daughter and it is also a myth that a daughter will not retaliate if her mother scolds her. Since this is Adult-Child relationship, it becomes acceptable. Whereas similar transaction between MIL and DIL may become a cause for a civil war within the family. On the other hand if MIL and DIL decides to work on an Adult-Adult relationship, similar to the kind of relationship that exists between close friend then it becomes a natural flowing relationship and brings about a balance and stability in their relationship. This is basic paradox of human nature. i want to site u another paradox. every parents like to have a son. but when a son gets married then they start to like their daughter more than their son.

Simple. MIL thinks that DIL should do all things and she should take rest. And DIL thinks only one thing

Simply because daughter in law is NOT and cannot be a daughter she is sons wife and cannot be his sister

If this happens there will be heaven on earth, pushing aside sinners. The destiny of Mother/daughter-in-law do not want that as they will lose opportunity to release anger and practice dictatorship.

Only because of possesiveness .........one is for her son and the other for her hubby .......and poor husbands become the victim of this age old tsunamis are crushed in between .........of course , they are in total unision on one point that their husbands could not find a better wife than them :)))
