Why is this Government so much concerned about FDIs in retail sector and does not resolve more serious issues hurting Aam Admi ?

This was introduced due to the criticism of policy paralysis from various quarters, possibly including from other countries too (though I am not sure). Having made a polciy statement, it would be counter-productive to withdraw it and so they are trying to defend it, resulting in a prestige issue between the govt. and its opposition.
