786 is numerological value to "Bismillahe Rahmane ne Rahim" which has surfaced recent era and it is an innovation ( Bidah ) in Islam and it is forbidden or more specifically "Haram" since Quran opposes Astrology, fortune telling, Numerology and such business and queries.

Having borrowed the Qabalist science of Gematria, the Muslim theological adventurers, who had nothing else to do, got down to reducing the Qur'anic verses, and even the Soorahs, to numbers. The most commonly used number is seven eight six which is a normally found letterhead beginning of books, pamphlets, letters, etc. We are made to believe that seven eight six stands for BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM which is the very first verse of the Qur'an. It is my contention that seven eight six does NOT mean for BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM, for it has no meaning other than seven hundred and eighty-six units of anything.
Symbolic Numbers
The Qur'an is not a book of mathematics or a book of symbolic numbers. The absurdity of ABJAD numbers becomes clear if you reflect upon the following numbers sixty six, ninety two , three hundred fifty two , two ninety six and sixty two. What do these numbers stand for? What do they mean? They are the numerical values of Allah, Muhammad (pbuh), Qur'an, Ra ...more

The Arabic letters of the opening phrase of the Qur'an sum to the numerical value seven eighty six in the system of Abjad numerals. Muslims on the Indian subcontinent use seven eighty six as an abbreviation for the phrase 'bism illah ir-raman ir-raim' which means in the name of Allah, the compassionate, the merciful'. Its in India and Pakistan only.
