First, XX= female, and XY= male.

Every egg contains one X chromosome, and every sperm contains either one X or one Y. Which sperm reaches the egg first is the deciding factor in whether your child will be a boy or a girI.

There is no way to naturally influence this enough to say, okay, do this and you'll definately get a girI. But there are some things that work a tiny, tiny bit. Like, they might make the odds sixty/forty instead of fifty/fifty.

First, you can chart your ovulation. Y sperm swim faster than X sperm, so if you want a boy, have sex on or right after your day of ovulation. Or, if you want a girI, have sex in the few days before you ovulate, because X sperm tend to live longer than Y sperm.

Second, in some animals, temperature makes a difference, but that has pretty much been disproven in humans. Cooler temperatures tended to produce more males, warmer, more female.
