Hi Kalpana,

There is nothing called better or worse when you look at it from a broad perspective. It's just that whether the particular instrument like FD, PPF, Insurance, Mutual Funds etc., suit your requirements or not and to what extent do they fulfill your financial needs.

However, PPF might be better than other investments for some people because:

1. They don't have the appetite to take risk.
2. They don't believe in private sector companies.
3. They want a guaranteed return to a certain extent.

They got lots of money in their corp. 22,000 crore lied with them without unclaimed. it is safe and the end of the year your interest also add to your principle,
