Firstly its not a sleeping.... ...its a "Anantha-sayanam" posture (in the eternal sleep of Yoga-nidra on the serpent Anantha).....It is a state of conscious Deep Sleep, whr you remain in the Waking state of consciousness, and gently focus the mind, while allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to arise and go on............

With sleeping pose, the lord Padmanabha can own material wealth of lakhs of crores and innumerable amount of intangible blessings, well wishes and prayers. Probably, it is not the time for the lord of the temple to get up, not yet.
