Bay of Pigs is the name given to the ill fated US backed invasion of communist Cuba. Cuban expats living in the US were trained and armed by the CIA. The invasion attempt was made in April that year at Bahia de Cochinos, remembered as the Bay of Pigs. Most of the rebels were captured or killed. The operation turned into an embarrassment for the US government.
