No. All parties should have joined in passing the food security bill unanimously.

Since the time in Nineteen Ninety One when FM MMS under PM Narsimha Rao introduced Open and free market policy and started reforms and inclined towards West, BJP is confused and perplexed as this has traditionally been their (Jan Sangh and later BJP) manifesto's basic features. So,when MMS was signing Nuclear deal with USA BJP slithered towards Communists to pull down the govt. In a wikileaks cable it was revealed Advani telling the American envoy that this is only to bring down the govt. later when we come to power (which we hope to) we introduce the same deal afresh. Same is the case with FDI. And now with Food Bill, they are sure that in the elections to come Congress will get a clear advantage over them.
BJP will oppose anything Congress says ... they don't have any new organised plan for mattersto be attended to as things are moving at a hectic pace (state elections are at hand and GE is round the corner) ... and their complacency and euphoria has already been shattered by the ...more

The reason is ( political consideration) Congress may get some favorable opinions from common men in spite of monumental corruption and 10 years of continuous Rules. The desperation to get it passed in Parliament shows, how much the Congress are banking on it. Whatever is positive for Congress is negatIve for BJP.
