I think its the British who was responsible for the partition of India to weaken India. Even Jinnah was not expected such partition rather he wished an Islamic autonomous state/region. However, the partition was occurred at the last moment unfortunately. In my opinion it was better that the partition could be avoided and Pakistan & Bangladesh should have been preserved as special status of autonomous states like Jammu & Kashmir in undivided India.Answered by Joseph Chacko, 13 Oct '09 06:56 am
Rather than credit them with the status of heroes I would rather thinks that they were slaves of the circumstances. If onlythey were heroes of the situation they could have changed the course of the events. It is easy to explain away the partition by theories of communal disharmony Leave alone Partition both of them could have and should have done their level best to stop of massacre of the personschanging ,rather forced to change, their abodes. A small stated like Bikaner with no means and no help from the Centre ensured that there were no incidents there.Certainly both Jihhasn snf Nehru were quiite capable of repatingthe show in the All India background. But they preferred to stick up to Delhi,Karachi. Both had got quite competent bureacrats who could have managed the details of partition But sometimes I feel like agreeing with Mr.Ram Manohar Lohia that the Indian and Pakistani leaders were growing old and were eagre to enjoy the fruits of freedom and so failed to do what they coul ...moreAnswered by radhikamruta, 13 Oct '09 06:09 am
First of all there was no conspiracy i think it is a wrong word to use. it was the circumstances that led to this situation., had mr Nehru accepted mr jinnah as first PM of India, this would not have happened at all. this is just a small part of the situation. there were more complex things involved. and to explain that one will have to write a bookAnswered by iqbal seth, 13 Oct '09 08:01 am
