Nobody "fought" in mainland India if u r referring to passive resistance movement. The British left us because they were not able to govern colonies after the massive amount of damage they suffered in the second world war. I would say Hideki Tojo and Adolf Hitler were more influencial in making British leave India than the Passive resistance movement, no offense. I have read lots of books of freedom fighters and our independence. I strongly object to your saying that we fought against the british rulers under the leadership of m. k. gandhi. Its a known fact that he was an agent of the british and after independence he has done the greatest harm to India, we are still bearing the burnt. He introduced the charkha and made people weave the thread so that people couldn't be mobilised for agitations against the british. Even his idea of satyagraha was with the intention that people will not raise arms against the british. Even after independence, at the time of partition he sat for satyagraha so that muslims be allowed to stay in India, again he sat for satyagraha and made us give a 900 crore loan to pakistan which has turned into a bad debt. He again sat for satyagraha for the cause of pakistan and peoples tolerance limit was challenged provoking Nathuram Godse to take corrective measures.
As far as why we are still fighting among ourself; its j ...more
