Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie Kt. (born 19 June 1947) is a British Indian novelist and essayist. He first achieved fame with his second novel, Midnight's Children (1981), which won the Booker Prize in 1981. Much of his early fiction is set on the Indian subcontinent. His style is often classified as magical realism mixed with historical fiction, and a dominant theme of his work is the story of the many connections, disruptions and migrations between the Eastern and Western world.

His Satanic Versus banned by the world wide muslims. Even he have death threatening due to that from Iran and some other countries. He took shelter in UK and living there. An indian born writer...written few interesting books. But his views & study against islam given him most popularity and value. A good writer after all.

Satanic Verses is one of his most famous books, and the author was in great controversy over the book as many fundamentalists felt the book was an attack on tenents of Islam, Unfortunately following the protest most of his books were banned in India, so unless you have a way of smuggeling any of his books or visit a free country, there are rare chances you will get to read it.
