Why Football is not so famous as much as Cricket and Hockey in India?

Football is not that common in the whole asia and not in India only. The reasons are many.The main reason is india has lot of talented footballers..if they are groomed properly ,they can achieve a lot...the main reason for the problem is the lack of investment at the grassroot levels..if more academies are set up to get youngsters to develop their footballing skills,india sure has the potential to improve at the world level

We never achieved what we could /should have in football
it was hockey and then cricket at team level
at individual level mostly--tennis

I think it is more to do with the traditions followed. Hockey is more of home grown game whereas Cricket was introduced and made famous by Britishers. Football is played only in few pockets like West Bengal and Goa.

Because we follow the british system in english , studies and sports. we were heavily influenced by their sports and in cricket , indians have a flair and picked up this sport termendously.
football is also slowly catching up , but not sure if it will be famous like cricket
