Q.

Some people on this forum need some education regarding NOM DE PLUME. They think adopting a Nom de Plume is a crime and call it as "Fake ID"!! In this way then Assad Ulla Khan was a criminal because he kept a "Fake ID" of Mirza Ghalib? And so was Firaq Gorakhpuri whose real "ID" was Raghupat Sahai !

Taking an alias for some reason and sticking to it like Mirza Galib or Firaq is a different thing. But taking identical name to others and mislead all through that name, defame the name, is definitely taking a fake ID.. Suppose some one take the name Que Sera Sera and misleads other as if he is you, what you will call? No one has a copy right of name here.. So any name can be taken.. What will you say to this fake name, I do not know. We call it a fake Id..give any other name, if u like.

This cannot be generalized. When a person adopts a pseudonym he/she cannot be branded a fake. As long as the person behind a particular pseudonym is good, decent and does not abuse or harm others, it is no problem.

You seem to have taken the remark of a new member very seriously. in any case the remark was not for you in any case, technically you are right. these people had adopted different ids for a good purpose and in good stpirit. But, the question is can the people with fake ids ( fake ids and not nom de plume ) be compared with great persons lime firab sahib and mirza sahib. i thnik you are being unfair to such great persons by referring to their names vis a vis the question of fake ids on rediff.
