Q.

Hindi speaking people are angry with Tamilians because tamilians prefer to speak in English rather than Hindi.
But hindi people make absolutely no effort to speak other language but they expect every one to speak their language.
Why is their attitude so narrow?

Do tamils prefer speaking English among themselves? At what kind of congregation and at which place that Tamils prefer to speak English rather than Hindi. Is it at their houses, homes or Tamil Sangams? Do you have any idea how cosmopolitan Tamil Nadu is? That is the only state that does not observe the useless rubbish "Son of Soil". It is the only state where there is an established Maratha Durbar. Do you know how many people supposedly from Hindi speaking belt excel in Tamil? They do much better than Tamils. Have you ever tried to travel across India and find out how well North Indians with Hindi as mother tongue (There are so many dialects) speak excellent English? Go to Kolkota, Delhi, Mumbai, Their English standards are much higher than English themselves. Oh! please don't ever try to be sly...

The one common thing missing is "understanding" each other. We are all Indians. In the past too Tamils have hated Hindi, Many Tamils in Bangalore have made nill or very less effort to learn Kannada compared to the people of Karnataka living in Tamil Nadu who can speak Tamil and many have learnt to even read and write. What a contrast. An average Bangalorean can speak fluent Tamil and Telugu in addition to English and Kannada. Many can speak Hindi as well. After all Hindi is our accepted National Language. Lets learn and speak our National Language without much fuss!!
