Now that is ego or inferiority complex.
Source: It could be fear of rejection too if confusion is about relationship.

There are two situations when questions are not asked
They have understood every thing, so what to ask
They have not understood anything, so what to ask

It hurts the ego to admit that understanding has not happened.
Sometimes what was said was not only not understood, but also felt as not understandable.
It cud even be a conscious decision not to put further efforts in understanding! why bother?

we find that it was done deliberately...with malice...with the intent of mischief...
and explanations are not forthcoming...
because the other guy deliberately created the situation.
I will explain this :
A supposed friend( we come to read behind the real facade when its too late).. ...more
