Smoke contains hot gases which being lighter in weight, follows a curved path because of the eddy currents that are set up in the air.

Smoke is observed to be in motion most of the time since it gets into contact with air particles. The air particles are known to always be in random motion hence the smoke of vapor just makes it easy to visualize for its color.
