Here's a rundown of what happens when you sleep:",

one REM rapid eye movement this is your "dreaming" stage
two and three settling into a sleep
four the "deep part of your sleep"- this is where your night terrors, sleepwalking, and sleep talking are occurring, conveniently all together in the same stage!

i do not know of any medication that can prevent this, and personally, do not know if i'd want to take them anyways since this sleep stage is VERY important. it's when your body is restoring your energy levels for the night.

it is not recommended to be woken up by your partner, since in deep sleep you awaken very disoriented and agitated. have your partner lead you back to bed. the reason why you were so scared for weeks is because you could not "pinpoint" what it was that made you scared. with night terrors which are NOT nightmares you don't remember what it is you're "dreaming", since its deep sleep, not dream sleep.

i'd definitely go talk to a doctor, tell him/her up fr ...more
