Q.
BBC World TV is broadcasting live British Pm's speech from Birmingham at the UK Conservative Party Conference..
What struck me most is his forceful positive way of bringing his point across.
Qs . Is it important for politicians to be good speakers also, apart form being good workers?

It is essential that they are good speakers, they must also come across with conviction and sincerity and get the public on their side; and of course back up their words with actions! I think David is like a breath of fresh air - his proposals are tough but he makes you realise that they are necessary for the better result in the end.

Like the first impression of a person, the oratory skills of a politician is instrumental, to an extend for his/her upward movement in politics. But to stay there he has to do positive deeds. The great Antony felled to Augustus Ceaser for this reason.

Absolutely! Most Communist leaders who siezed powers were pretty damn awesome speakers. If u're a neutral, they'd convince u to strap C4 for "the cause" in just 1 hearing. Even strong capitalist leaders like Hideki Tojo, Adolf Hitler etc. etc had excellent oratory skills.

Our 2nd PM shastri was more efficient then the first PM. but due to his poor oratory skill most of us do not remember him even on his birth date, it is imperative the leader should possess good vocabulary and eloquent orator.

Why doubt? Excellent oratorial skill is a must for any political leader...it helps him put across his points of view and drive them home especially when the audience comprises mostly educated, discerning and above all, people having a mind/opinion of their own.( In India, this is not a pre-requisite as a party symbol can take care of the people who have pawned their power of reasoning at the door step of various party offices )
