I don't think it is right to generalise. Everybody is patriotic - whether south or north Indian. It must be the personal choice of the person or persons in your office to work on a holiday. I would also think that taking an off on Independence Day does not make one more patriotic than the other! Therefore, these kind of statements can cause more harm than good.

I am sorry to say that your question is based on totally wrong premises.
Before Aryans came, there was high level of civilization in India and it is presumed , it was Dravidian. Though Aryans were not as civilized as Dravidians, fighting skills of Aryans were superior and they drive Dravidians to down south and since then there was a north-south divide. Finally, Aryans established a high civilization in north and gradually traveled south with the sage Agastya. The high level of their civilization is available from foreign sources through business contacts of south with middle east which are older than the time of Mahabharat war. Either such achievements were not known to north or it was suppressed. From second century AD, south started establishing Hindu colonies in S. E. Asia and also established business contacts with China and Philippines. When Islam appeared in south east Asia, there had been naval battles with the Arabs and Cholas maintained their iron grip in Arabian sea, Bay o ...more

You are wrong, if someone is working on Aug. 15, it means he or she is more patriotic as he is doing some productive work for the country, not sitting ideal and watching tv at home. I think south Indian are much sincere towards their work. So it is your misconception.

It is wrong to brand a wide segment of society viz., South Indians for not being patriotic. The example given is also not appreciated. If you avail leave on 15th August, are you patriotic? Patriotism means an inner commitment to yourself to abstain from speaking lies, share love and care towards all citizens, respect every community and religion, spread positive message and not rumours, work for the growth of our country, So if the south Indian staff at your Office have opted to work on August 15th, they are more patriotic as work is divine and must be respected. I am sure you will look at this point of view also and form your opinion.

I do not agree with you. South Indian are like any normal Indians. What is there if they agree to work on 15th Aug.. What are you going to achieve staying at home if you take leave on 15th,....????Probably the lot in your office might have that attitude.. You cannot judge the whole community by the attitude of a few.
