It is a pertinent question. Some answers have tried to hide behind politicians but perhas you had the common woman in mind. However,as some pointed out a movement for liberation of women is taking root even in Muslim countries now e.g. Iran, Afghanstian.Let us wish them well.

As few other persons have said, the answer does not holds true for so many muslim countries but I think you were pointing towards the attitude of men towards Muslim women.JC not to speak or right much but they have been on receiving ends from long time, and even now things have not changed. They are just a material in their eyes not a human being. The example of Taslima Nasrin or Mukhtaran Mai in Pakistaan is enough.

I find this question generalized. Which is wrong. Most countries give freedom to moslem woman, especially the ruling ones. Queen Rania of Jordan, Princess Maktoom of dubai, and Now even Qatar are for instances top woman in these countries who come on stage to give speeches, same with other middle east countries. Even Saudi Arabia, once a conservative country, has woman who give speeches, and some other countirs have had the top person as woman.

Forget to deliver d speech. They even don't allow their women to come in public widout burkha. Their laws r very very strict towards women. It will take 100 yrs. to me to understand their rules......They r still stick to their old customs ( ? ) which hve no value in 2day's world.

Muslims never consider women equal to men; they think they are inferior. I have lived in Muslim countries. I have found them to be more intelligent, more beautiful, and smarter then men. If men do not allow them to be on the stage it is because of their stupidity.
