Not all .. You cxan imagine God in any way you like. he can be a child like Bal Gopal, or a warriror like Sri Krishna of Mahabharat, or even as a giver of knowledge as Sri Krishna did during the battle of Kurukshetra when he gave us the Bhagavat Gita, or God can be a mother like Maa Durga..or a lovable boy like Ganesh. (Gauriputra). So you can't say that Hindu God's are destructive.

Gods represent the various benign forces that control the Universe. All of them do not look destructive. Only the ones, which are protecting you from evil forces, look destructive. After all, how will they protect you for powerful evil forces if they are not strong?
The army protects us from enemy. If the soldiers not not look fierce then which enemy will fear them?

What you are seeing is one part of focussing the God. It is to emphasis that the universe "pulsates, recurrently being destroyed and recreated over periods lasting about 4 billion years. The world is seen as a huge series of repeated cycles, each cycle being nearly a copy of the last.
