This is one of the most beautiful jorney you will ever make in your life. The railway line was constructed in the time of British rule. The line is a small gauge line than the conventional tracks. There are ordinary trains as well as special tourist trains which are nicely decorated and mostly foreigners use them but you have to make booking well in advance. Another thing is That these trains are scheduled just after the arrival of other trains from big cities to Kalka. So they give a very good connectivity to reach Shimla. It takes about 5 hrs to rach Shimla.

The train goes through tunnels and bridges and you see Himachal's beauty at every moment you are in there. If you decide to go in winter then you will see a very beautiful view of snow coverd peaks and trees.

Words are not enough to describe it all. You must travel through that train. I can never forget that beautiful experience.

The best way to reach Shimla is to travel by Toy train from Kalka. The railway track is small in width between Kalka and Shimla and is known as meter gauge track opened by British Government in the year 1903. The distance of 96 KM between Shimla and Kalka passes through 102 tunnels and 87 bridges. The five hour journey is one of the best train journeys for tourist operated by Indian railway.
