The Hindi text (of selections) of an essay by the contemporary critic Namwar Singh is available as a PDF as are the texts of the two poems, Vishva Chavi by Sumitranandan Pant and Nraj (selection) by Mahadevi Varma.

The mid-twentieth century Chayavad movement represents a stark departure from earlier Hindi and Urdu poetic traditions. Its philosophy was that poetry should deal in emotions above all else and that the poet should strive to express those emotions as tenderly as possible. The name Chayavad is untranslatable, as the literal meaning, shadow-espousing, sounds sinister in English. What is meant by shadow in this context is the emotional wake that trails after an event. It is that ripple of emotion and not the event itself that Chayavad poetry aims to capture in verse.

The Chayaa Waad is a part of Modern Hindi Literature (or Adhunik Kaal)
The post-Dwivedi Yug witnessed a new romantic upsurge in the form of the Chayavad style of poetry. This new poetry movement was described as 'an aesthetic, subjective movement that revolted against formalism and didacticism'.
Makhanlal Chaturvedi (1888-1968),
Balkrishna Shama Navin (1897-1959),
Siyaram Sharan Gupta (b.1895),
Jayashankar Prasad,
Surya Kant Tripathi 'Nirala' (1897-1963),
Sumitranandan Pant (1900-1977),
Mahadevi Verma (b.1907)
and Subhadrakumari Chauhan (1904-1948) were the leading Chayavad poets.
Makhanlal Chaturvedi's works include Hima-kiritni and Hima-tarangani. Nirala's powerful poetry is reflected in works like Juhi Ki Kali, Parimala, Anamika, Archana and Aradhana. Sumitranandan Pant has several important works to his credit including Pallava, Gunjana, Yugavani, Gramya, Svarnakirana, Silpi and Lokayatana. The other important literary works of the Chayavad period include Jaysh ...more

Chhayavaad was Hindi literature's turning point from Bharatendu yug and Dwivedi yug to a romantic era of writing poetry. That happened from 1918 to 1938 and later due to Freedom Struggle other genres like Rahasyavaad, Pragativaad became more prominent as was the call of the times.
Jaishankar Prasad, Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala', Sumitranandan Pant and Mahadevi Varma are considered as the four pillars of Chhayavaadi school of Hindi literature.
Other important figures of this literary movement were Ramdhari Singh 'Dinkar', Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Makhanlal Chaturvedi.
Many of the greatest works in Hindi poetry were written during this time.
