Proverbs run the risk of becoming mere platitudes but aforementioned contains important and significant fact of life. One's struggles are one's own and one's sorrows, disaappointments and failures are one's own. It is said when we laugh the world laughs with us but when we weep we weep alone. So the onus lies on us and hence it is we who help ourselves. Friends may in mere words claim to help in times of distress but it is the self help that lifts us from the difficulties of life.

Will God come to the aid of those who refuse to try; or he helps only those who exert themselves to succeed? "God helps those who help themselves"; this most often quoted phrase is nowhere in the Bible. This is actually a quote from Ben Franklin. It had appeared in Poor Richard's Almanac in 1757. In fact, the Bible teaches just the opposite. In the bible it is written at Jer. 17:5, "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD." Again in the book of Prov. at 28:26 it is said, He who trusts in himself is a fool... God helps those who need his help the most. A good example of this is in the story of Pool of Bethesda; as written in the book according to John at verse 5:2-17. People, lame, blind, paralyzed; even those unable to move; and those with all sorts of infirmities sat whole year around by the pool waiting for an angel to come down and stir up the water. The widespread belief was that the water would ...more

Jane jee Man ke haare haar hai, Man ke jeete jeet. Means if you loose the will, you loose the game. Its all depend on inner power, with this you can win the world. The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a Mandir... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of ou ...more

If A needs a help, B or C gives that. same with B and C. Why touch ur nose running ur hand round ur head? A, B or C can easily help themselves ! Ur prime responsibility is towards urself. U only need commonsense to realise that !

Yes certainly but that does not mean that God aids people doing wrong things . He has given us free will and taught us what is good or bad so we choose to do good or bad and the consequences of it's reward and punishment soley lies on our shoulders . But God certainly helps those who strive in his way both in this life and herafter .

Very simple. If you act, God will reward the fruits of your act. If your acts are for your own betterment, you will believe God has helped.

We have to fight ourselves. God gives us strength, intellect, directions to strengthen us. Even Lord Krishna did not fight for his best friend/cousion and devoted disciple Arjuna. He kept helping him in throuhghout the war. Arjuna may be symbolized as "WE" and Lord Krishna as "GOD".

Krishna Geetha says that one has help himself to grow & develop materialistic plane, mental plane &spiritual plane.Udhareth Atamanatmanam. One's self is friend unto himself & enemy unto himself. If one tries by self help to uplift himself by taking good steps God takes ten steps (some people say God takes 100 steps) to uplift the person.
