Narsinh Mehta also called Narsi Mehta ( 1414 - 1481) a great Adi Kavi of Gujarat wrote this famous Bhajan. M.S. Subhalakshmi use to sing this Bhajan soulfully and it is said that when she sang this famous Bhajan, tears rolled in the eyes of Mahatma Gandhi. such was an effect of this song.
