Q.

There are times when one asks oneself, 'Am I going to withdraw from the world, like most people do, or am I going to live?' One decided one is going to live-or at least try to live-the way one wants, with dignity, with courage, with humor, with composure....What does one do in trying situations?

Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York,
And all the clouds that loured upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.
Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths,
Our bruised arms hung up for monuments,
Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings,
Our dreadful marches to delightful measures.
Grim-visaged war hath smoothed his wrinkled front;
And now, instead of mounting barbed steeds ...more

In trying situation we more often than not find ourselves in conflicting situations. One feeling we get is to stand up and fight and other tells us to seek escape. The feeling most powerful ultimately wins. We act according to the nature our progenitors have conferred on us. If we seek escape then our generation too would do the same. Therefore, for their sake we must stand up and put up a fight however despondent we might be.

Your quote taken from Mitch Albom has the answer in one of the other quote from the same source, "The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.
There is a great saying in Tamil which say,"All the people are my relatives and all the towns are mine and all my belongings are for all". when you have had a mind set which can propel you to share whatever you had with others and live then most of the so called trying situation wont arise at all. Being one in a society and sharing and mingling with it and live as a society is the best solution in this regard.

Its on an individual how much he or she carries the aftereffects or wrong happenings around and with him or her. If we are true to ourselves, we need not worry or care about what others say or feel, what others want us to be and what others force us to be... Living the life to fullest is the aim God had decided and send us for... Any shortcomings on that part will be an injustice to the Almighty commands... Why should we disobey Him for the sake or earthly creatures??? Live life Queen size...no matter what traitors do...

Time & again it has been proved that life is a battle from womb to tomb.While fighting this battle man has to come acroos so many hurdles.He becomes the hero who moves ahead crushing and stamping all the husdles coming in front of him In this course of fight one has to study the battle field, the opponent enemy (here the challenges of life like poverty, miseries humiliations etc.) and make plan to face the battle in short time. In this course he makes meny trials,because trying & failing is better than never trying.One may face meny failures in this course..................................................But he who can not digest the poison of failure & fails to learn from it, decides to withdraw from the world, like most people do.Thus he who commits suicide, because of failure, is identified as a coward.A sincere & challenging person never likes to live life as a coward.Hence his killer instinct prompts within to elevate and fight the hurdles against life, and becomes Mr.somebody f ...more

Certainly both are not uncommon situations... to live wid dignity, with courage, with humor and wid composure is the best way to live in , but very difficult....bcoz a person wid high moral never tend to compromise any of these four...and he/she has to fight numerous battles wid himsef/herself to win the war finally by way of losing a few battles....accepting defeat in one or two battles , that too gracefully and convincingly , cud be the best solution in a trying situation...not necessarily the only ways of the available options....thanks for asking, a brilliant question as usual.
