A great verse written by Sahir Ludhianvi comes to my mind-
Maalik ne to har insaan ko insaan banaya,
Humne usey Hindu ya Musalmaan banaya.
Maalik ne to humko bakshee thee ek he dharti,
Humne kahin Bharat kahin Iran banaya.
Tu Hindu banega na Musalmaan banega,
Insaan ki aulaad hai insaan banega!

Cyrus Sir ..thanks for excellant question . It is true that manmade religion didivde people but God is merciful and has provided his guidance and truth to us . This religion of God is not named after any person tribe or place but is called peace aquired by submission to will of God .
Now, let us turn to the second "big question," which is, "Why are we here?"

Well, why are we here? To amass fame and fortune? To make music and babies? To be the richest man or woman in the graveyard for, as we are jokingly told, "He who dies with the most toys wins?"

No, there must be more to life than that, so let's think about this. To begin with, look around you. Unless you live in a cave, you are surrounded by things we humans have made with our own hands. Now, why did we make those things? The answer, of course, is that we make things to perform some specific function for us. In short, we make things to serve us. So, by extension, why did God make us, if not to serve Him?

Our purpose, then, ...more

Well yes it is correct. Man is a selfish kind and wants to be pampered by the society. People dividing themselves because they now think like that. For example If you are Christian and I am Hindu then i would always neglect you all the time because the world has been like that. Take example of Sofia Hayat's case why the police has registered two more cases against Armaan Kohli and why Armaan Kohli got bailed and what about Sofia Hayat. She too had done many things - made false complains drifted two friends from each other Tanisha and Gauhar, pushed Armaan Kohli back. There is a gap between not in people's minds but also of their thinking. We always say Athiti Devo Bhava but what is the use of it when the visitors are causing havoc in our country. Sofia Hayat is getting all the attention now as she always wanted and she was not deported from here but if any of us there could have had done anything they would have had deported us here because we are of Hindu or Muslim and they are Christ ...more

According to me Religion means rules or code of conduct specific to a certain region in the interest of humans as well as the sorrounding flora and fauna. However the preachers saw a more lucerative business into religion and they are trying to maximize their income by increasing the followers. I think its high time people should stop practicing religion. People should observe humanity and preserve environment.
