A great verse written by Sahir Ludhianvi comes to my mind-
Maalik ne to har insaan ko insaan banaya,
Humne usey Hindu ya Musalmaan banaya.
Maalik ne to humko bakshee thee ek he dharti,
Humne kahin Bharat kahin Iran banaya.
Tu Hindu banega na Musalmaan banega,
Insaan ki aulaad hai insaan banega!

I would like to give very very simple explaination on this.Religion is the food for soul, just like roti,dal.. is the food for body.We never make an issue on different food, like roti, dosa, bhat,...many...Every one eats as per choice,No controversey at all.then why on different religions ? In fact ,it is only due to exploitation (not the difference) by the politicians for their self interest which needs to be understood properly by all and eliminate the created feeling of differences.

Cyrus Sir ..thanks for excellant question . It is true that manmade religion didivde people but God is merciful and has provided his guidance and truth to us . This religion of God is not named after any person tribe or place but is called peace aquired by submission to will of God .
Now, let us turn to the second "big question," which is, "Why are we here?"
Well, why are we here? To amass fame and fortune? To make music and babies? To be the richest man or woman in the graveyard for, as we are jokingly told, "He who dies with the most toys wins?"
No, there must be more to life than that, so let's think about this. To begin with, look around you. Unless you live in a cave, you are surrounded by things we humans have made with our own hands. Now, why did we make those things? The answer, of course, is that we make things to perform some specific function for us. In short, we make things to serve us. So, by extension, why did God make us, if not to serve Him?
Our purpose, then, ...more

According to me Religion means rules or code of conduct specific to a certain region in the interest of humans as well as the sorrounding flora and fauna. However the preachers saw a more lucerative business into religion and they are trying to maximize their income by increasing the followers. I think its high time people should stop practicing religion. People should observe humanity and preserve environment.
