Roger Federer . The last Australian open tournamet, winning over Murray in straight sets. Also Federer is a great humanist and philanthropist.

It was only from around late 1970s that one could actually catch the players in action on TV and thus truly appreciate not only the game but the different players.
There was no favourite player as such because each period has created legends who could stand on their own by their tenacity, style and determination to succeed at the highest level of the game, in both male as well as female genders and who stood the test of time without burning out too early by overstretching the limits that their body could withstand and thus withered away prematurely.
To quote a few of my favourites over the years and whose games I used to watch vividly whenever it was telecast are:
John McEnroe - with his own excentric style but was always a favourite with everyone. A die hard player with an even more die hard spirit.
Bjorn Borg - the quite Swede who was clinical in demolition of his opponents. Rare to see such a foreboding player who is so cool.
