The speed of shooting stars varies from 10 to 45 mi (16-72 km) per sec. The speed of shooting star Leonids is @ more than 160,000 mph or @ 72 kilometers per second more than the speed of a typical bullet from a rifle, moving at what seems like blinding speed, creeps along by comparison @ just 2,240 mph or1,000 meters per second.
