Infosys was founded on July 2, 1981 with a capital of Rs 10,000. The six founders -- N R Narayana Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, N S Raghavan, S Gopalakrishnan, S D Shibulal and K Dinesh -- earlier worked together at Patni Computers Systems.
