I have watched Titanic a good number of 10 times, and yes I am proud of this feat! Titanic released in 1997 is the most popular Hollywood film released in India. The movie had all the elements of a popular Bollywood romance, which is why it struck a chord with Indians. Though the fictional romance was the real story against the backdrop of the sinking of ship, the two plots, viz; the romance of Jack and Rose(played by Leonardo Caprio and Kate Winslet respectively) and the story of the ship ran parallel to each other, till they mingled into a gut-wrenching and touching climax.
According to James Cameron, the juxtaposition of the class-divide(rich and poor), the traditional gender roles played unto the death(woman first), the nobility of the bygone age and the magnificence of the great ship held the audience spellbound.
