A couple of people come to mind: One is Philip Kotler, a scholar, author, and consultant who has written hundreds of books, book chapters, papers, and articles on the subject of marketing.

Another is Edward Bernays, who is more frequently referred to as the "father of public relations." However, many of the strategies and techniques that Bernays pioneered had a clear impact on modern marketing.
